The Crib
As in many churches, the approach of Christmas heralds at St. Gregory’s the erection of the crib portraying the scene of the Nativity of Our Lord. Our crib has a very fine set of Italian figures. The crib structure was built by the late Roy Gayton and it was thatched by Mr. Costello. The layout has varied over the years (at one time it featured running water!) but the beauty of the figures remains a constant.
As another tribute to The Holy Spirit, stained glass was installed in the large rose window over the choir loft in the early 1980s This was an initiative of Father Chris Whitehouse, then an assistant priest at St. Gregory’s. It cost £3000 and the money was raised by subscription.
