St Gregory’s parish regularly supports a small number of charities. We limit the number of good causes that we support so that we can give more substantial sums to them.
CAFOD – the Catholic Church’s agency for overseas aid and development. Currently we are raising money for their water projects, so that places without clean water and sanitation can be given clean drinking water.
The Hope Centre – the agency that seeks to support the homeless in Northampton. This began in 1974 by feeding homeless people from Bishops’ House, and from the start was supported by a parishioner of St Gregory’s, Valerie Hanson, who was awarded an OBE in 1995 for her work there. Every week food is given to the Hope Centre as well as financial support.
The Life House – a house in St Gregory’s parish which provides a safe home for up to three mothers and their child who were under pressure to have an abortion, but chose life instead. This is run by the Life Charity.
